The Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent, non-political and non-profit association established in September 2001.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

  • Monitoring and development of strategies in various social spheres; studies of the social effect of the privatization; studies of the influence of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund on the structure of the social policy.
  • Study and forecasts of the employment, and unemployment; analyses and development of mechanisms and methodologies for training and retraining;
  • Studies of the typical and non-typical forms of employment; analyses of trilateral cooperation and social dialog; development of drafts of bills related to the labor of employees and government officials; consultations on collective agreement issues; studies in the area of labor safety;
  • Study and monitoring of the pace of the social reform in Bulgaria; participating in the elaboration of the social legislation; consulting private pension funds.
  • Sstudy of marginal groups of the population /children, handicapped, minorities, elderly, solitary/; study of the equality of women; analyses of the status and capacity of government and local structures that are providing social protection; developing standards for quality social services – family centers, homes for disadvantaged children; developing an overall know-how for the establishment of social homes for elderly.
  • Projects regarding the optimization of human resources management; developing a methodology for implementation of the European standards and best production practices.
  • Implementation of programmes for training and capacity building of municipalities regarding development and management of programmes, financed by the European Union pre-accession funds; training of employers’ and trade unions’ teams.
